Sean Young's Explanation In Her Own Words For Her Arrest At Oscars !

Cissy Houston Revisits Whitney's Hotel Death Room !

Cissy Houston "won't be at peace until she gets closure" in the death of her daughter, according to TMZ reports.

As a result, this same insider says, Whitney's mother is planning to actually revisit the scene of her daughter's passing: room 434 at the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel.

Houston will reportedly spend time along in the room, praying, thinking and trying to establish a spiritual connection with the child that left this world far too soon.
This has been an especially tough time for Cissy and Whitney's family, not simply due to the singer's tragic death, but also due to "The National Enquirer" actually publishing a photo of her daughter in her casket.

How painful and devastating for the Houston family...

Hope they all stay strong and united! Such a tragedy...

Lucy Lawless Arrested Today In Greenpeace Protest !!!

Police arrested actress Lucy Lawless and five Greenpeace activists Monday, four days after they climbed onto an oil-drilling ship to prevent it from leaving a New Zealand dock.

Police removed the protesters from their perch atop a 174-foot (53-meter) drilling tower on the Noble Discoverer in Port Taranaki. Chartered by oil company Shell, the ship had been due to leave over the weekend to drill five exploratory wells in the Arctic.

Lawless and six activists climbed the tower early Friday to stop the ship's departure and raise awareness about Arctic oil drilling.

One of the activists left the tower Saturday and was initially charged with unlawfully boarding a ship. All seven have now been charged with burglary, a more serious crime. All have been released and are due to appear in a New Zealand court Thursday.

For those who don't remember Lucy Lawless, who is now 43 years old, Lucy became famous for her title role in the TV series "Xena: Warrior Princess," and more recently for starring in the Starz cable television series "Spartacus." It shoulbd be mentioned that she is a native New Zealander.

Lawless spoke to "The Associated Press" from atop the tower Friday, where she said wind gusts were making it difficult for the group to stay put. She said she felt compelled to take a stand against oil-drilling in the Arctic and against global warming.

"I've got three kids. My sole biological reason for being on this planet is to ensure that they can flourish, and they can't do that in a filthy, degraded environment," she said. "We need to stand up while we still can."

In a series of tweets over the weekend, Lawless described some of the challenges of staying on the tower.

"I found last night pretty darn scary," she wrote. "Not for sissies."

In a release, Rob Jager, Chairman of Shell New Zealand, said the protest had put people in danger and he was pleased it was over. He said he remained disappointed that Greenpeace hadn't taken up the company's offer to engage in a "productive conversation."

Shell spokeswoman Shona Geary said she thought the ship would leave port within the next few days.

Bunny McDiarmid, the chief executive of Greenpeace New Zealand, said she thought the protest had gone "brilliantly" and that more than 100,000 people had sent messages to Shell to oppose the company's Arctic plans.

I wish people are often arrested for saving their environment!
Our planet is something worth fighting for! Don't you think??
Go ahead Lucy!

Viola Davis Takes Off The Wig At Oscars Red Carpet For The First Time !

Viola Davis stepped on to the Oscar's red carpet in a classy, strapless emerald green "Vera Wang" gown and revealed she intentionally skipped the wig she usually wears on red carpets and for film roles. It is the first time the actress has rocked her natural short locks on a worldwide stage, and she states her husband, Julius Tennon, saw it as a potential opportunity for empowerment.

"My husband wanted me to take the wig off," she told "InStyle" at a pre-Oscar dinner in Los Angeles. "He said, "If you want to wear it for your career, that's fine, but in your life wear your hair. Step into who you are!""

And while Viola has said she's not giving up the wigs for good, wearing her own hair was an excellent choice for a big event like the Oscars. Perhaps she is preparing for a win and a chance to make a statement about her natural appearance? Win or lose, the natural look ended up being a wise choice, proving her family knew best.

Well, I couldn't agree more with her husband!
Do you agree??

1898: A Jingoistic and Interventionist U.S. Republican Senator from Vermont: Redfield Proctor

On March 17, 1898, two weeks after the sinking of the USS Maine in Havana Harbor, Vermont Republican Redfield Proctor delivered the findings of his investigative trip to Cuba in a speech to his Senate colleagues. Since 1895, Cuban insurrectionists had been waging a protracted guerrilla offensive against Spain’s occupying forces. Proctor understood the horrors of warfare, having served as colonel of the Fifteenth Vermont Volunteers during the Battle of Gettysburg and, later, as secretary of war for two years under President Harrison. But as became evident during his speech, the wartime sufferings of Cuba’s civilian population under Spanish subjugation shocked even this combat-hardened legislator.

Proctor’s remarks to his fellow senators detailed the atrocities Spanish troops inflicted on their colonial subjects. Spanish general Valeriano Weyler’s policy of reconcentración, in which entire Cuban villages found themselves uprooted and relocated to fortified military encampments, had devastated the local population. Proctor described the conquered region outside Havana as rife with “desolation and distress, misery and starvation.” The lack of food had left “little children . . . walking about with arms and chest terribly emaciated, eyes swollen, and abdomen bloated to three times the natural size.” Cuban doctors confirmed Proctor’s worst fears. Their prognosis for the youngest victims of Spain’s inhumane conduct was “hopeless.” “Deaths in the street have not been uncommon,” said Proctor, before estimating that “out of a population of 1,600,000, two hundred thousand had died within these Spanish forts.” Any hope of eventual recovery appeared unlikely to the senator, as “nearly all the sugar mills have been destroyed.” The New York Times praised Proctor for shining “the clear light of truth upon the actual situation” on the war-torn island.

But Proctor endeavored to do more through his speech than merely detail Spanish crimes against Cuban civilians. He presented his oration as a call to arms for the United States to help the Cuban insurrectionists expel their Spanish oppressors. Unless American forces intervened against Spain, Cubans would never be “free from molestation,” unable to “rebuild their homes, reclaim their tillage plots, which quickly run up to brush in that wonderful soil and clime.” In one counterintuitive rhetorical flourish, Proctor downplayed the gravity of both “the barbarity practiced by Weyler” and the sinking of the Maine. Instead, he cited “the entire native population of Cuba, struggling for freedom and deliverance from the worst misgovernment of which I ever had knowledge” as the “strongest appeal” for American intervention. Like countless optimists who have advocated military ventures with unrealistic post-hostility expectations, Proctor dreamed of a “wonderful prosperity that would surely come with peace and good home rule.” After evicting the Spanish colonial masters, “the large influx of American and English immigration and money” would guarantee Cuba’s recovery in Proctor’s estimation.

JG: In 1898 the nascent American Empire, interfered in the internal affairs of Cuba. They had not been invited by the insurrectionist Independence Fighters. The Yankees did not want a truly independent republic. They wanted and acquired three colonies: Cuba, Puerto Rico and the Philippines.

On May 20, 1902, the Yankee imperialists proclaimed a new Republic of Cuba to serve their intereses mezquinos. The Yankees ruled Cuba through pliant puppets from that day until January First, 1959, Cuba's true Day of National Liberation.

Billy Crystal : Oscars Funny Moments

Take a look at Billy Crystal's opening monologue: It's about baseball and the economy, stupid.

He sings. He dances. He jokes. He even kisses (!) George Clooney on the lips in a parody of a hospital scene in "The Descendants," and he hangs with Justin Bieber trying to catch the attention of the youth audience. Because he is Billy Crystal!!! And the night marks his ninth time hosting the Oscars. (Are you surprised?) After delivering his opening speech, he launched into a song and dance routine to introduce the best pictures and said, "You didn't think I wasn't gonna do this, did you?"

As the comedian and Oscar host pro put it, that record means that "tonight, just call me "War Horse." "

He also learned a thing or two after his close-up with Clooney, as he  told Clooney's girlfriend and Oscar date, Stacey Kiebler. "You're lucky, he's a good kisser," he joked. He is such a teaser!

The Academy Award veteran clearly plans to keep things moving. He told the crowd, "We gotta' hustle because of the nine nominated films … ." He talked fast and kept the opening monologue brief. And cut to the chase: It's pretty inside, but the economic climate is ugly.

"We're here at the beautiful Chapter 11 Theater to celebrate a holiday tradition that not only creates memories for the ages but breeds resentments that last a long time," he said. (Isn't he right?)

Crystal noted (in a deep James Earl Jones tone, ala "Field of Dreams") that movies are like baseball because, "like baseball, the movies have always been there for us. … The place to laugh, to cry, to question, to text."

But he wasn't done taking a quick cut at the audience, telling the crowd and , more importantly , the viewers that "nothing takes the sting out of a recession like watching millionaires present each other with gold statues."  Play ball.

I absolutely love Billy Crystal! He is a remarkable artist! I am convinced that he is able to do anything he wants! He is not afraid of taking risks. He always tries new things. He can understand  pretty clear what the audience wants  to watch and he gives it to it! That's why you will never get bored with Billy!

Great job as always! Congratulations Mr. Crystal!
I can't think of anyone better than you as an Oscar host!

What do you think?

WikiLeaks and Anonymous Score a Big Hit Against a U.S. Private Inteligence-Gathering Company

The whistle-blower organization WikiLeaks has scored an impressive big hit against the internal computer files of a private U.S. company that goes by the name Stratfor, which is short for Strategic Forces. It is not known if this private organization is a front for the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, as the U.S. government moves to privatize just about everything, to ensure huge profits for capitalist companies. The question that we can ask ourselves is "Is the U.S. on the road to corporate Fascism?"

Fox News is reporting the following:

It cites a Dec. 6, 2011, email from CEO George Friedman to Stratfor analyst Reva Bhalla, on how to exploit an Israeli intelligence informant providing information on the medical condition of Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez.

"[Y]ou have to take control of him. Control means financial, sexual or psychological control ... This is intended to start our conversation on your next phase," the email reportedly reads.
