Cuba had another easy game yesterday. Castillo connected a solo home run and a triple, and Abreu had a home run too. Cepeda also contributed a triple. Team Cuba defeated Italy 5-1. It remains undefeated with five straight wins.
Freddy Asiel Alvarez was the winning pitcher for the criollos. He pitched seven innings and struck out six without giving any free bases. Alberto Soto La O pitched in relief for two perfect innings. No one reached first base.
Cuba plays today against Germany and tomorrow against Nicaragua to close out the first round of the 2011 World Cup.
